A LETTER FROM DAVE
Dear Awakening family,
I hope this week’s newsletter finds you well as we seek to remain on mission with our neighbors, friends, and coworkers. Like you, I was especially challenge from Steve Clifford’s final words this past Sunday who prayed over us, “May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe you can make a difference in this world, so that we can do what others claim cannot be done: to bring love and kindness to the children and the poor of this world.”
These words provided a strong conclusion to The Way Back Home teaching series, revealing how our countercultural lifestyle can bring forth more of God’s coming kingdom, especially to the vulnerable. I’m grateful that we get do this amazing work together. For God has each of us purposefully placed in the Bay Area to be foolish distributers of his love and kindness, while we also get to serve together in the various ministries of our church…and if you aren’t yet a part of a serving team, please consider one of the many opportunities listed in this week’s newsletter!
Awakening, I’m also grateful for your warm and celebratory sendoff to Naseem this past Sunday. Her final words and prayer over our church were a reminder of the gift she has been to us. Please continue to pray for Naseem and for God’s direction in her next ministry assignment.
This upcoming Sunday we will begin a two-week teaching series on the theology of Jesus from guest teacher, Chip Ingram, remaining aligned with our Jesus-centric, 2023 vision. A reminder our adult services will once again be in the theater for at least two more Sundays, so we appreciate your understanding as we wait for the cafeteria construction to conclude.
And, as we prepare our hearts to gather the church for another Sunday, please be praying for our middle school students who are currently at Hume Lake for summer camp. These experiences can be extremely catalytic in the faith ownership of our young people, as we can’t wait to see how God moves this week.
As our Lead Pastor, Ryan Ingram, continues to take a well-deserved sabbatical to refuel and recharge for this next ministry season, I’m truly excited to see how God continues to advance his purposes through His church, Awakening.
Thankful for each of you,
P.S. Please never hesitate to reach out to me personally with questions or comments at [email protected].
