Sealed
When it comes to salvation, God made it simple, even though we tend to complicate it. You are included in the family of God when you hear the good news and believe Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is a down payment of what’s to come so you can be confident.

Teaching Notes
WHAT’S TRUE OF YOU THAT YOU NEVER KNEW
FOR not FROM as a result FROM not FOR
- God wants something FOR you more than He wants something FROM you.
- As a result you live FROM a place of blessing not FOR a blessing.
WHAT ARE YOU CONFIDENT OF?
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13-14
How do you become a Christian?
God made it SIMPLE; we tend to COMPLICATE it.
- HEAR the Gospel.
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Romans 10:14-15
- BELIEVE in Jesus.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” Romans 10:9-11
-PUBLIC Conviction: What I say I believe
-PRIVATE Conviction: What I think I believe
-CORE Conviction: What I really believe, revealed by my actions
Michael Novak’s Categories of Conviction taken from John Ortberg’s book Faith & Doubt
How do you know you’re truly saved?
The moment you BELIEVE you RECEIVE the Holy Spirit of God.
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Romans 8:11
The Holy Spirit is our DEPOSIT.
COMFORTS [Romans 15:13] ILLUMINATES [John 16:13-15]
CONVICTS [John 16:7-11] SPIRITUAL GIFT [1 Cori.12:11]
COUNSELS [John 14:25-26] EMPOWERS [Acts 1:8]
What about those who have walked away from God?
The SECURITY for the Believer is in the SEALING of the Spirit.
Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22
AUTHENTICITY SECURITY OWNERSHIP
I AM CONFIDENT:
There is nothing you can DO that can UNDO what God has done.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. John 14:16-17 [NLT]
What God BEGAN, He will COMPLETE.
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6
“Everyone who CALLS on the name of the Lord will be SAVED.”
Romans 10:13
