Controversial Jesus | Part 4: Jesus & Marriage
In the age of consumer reviews and social media shaming, there is a tendency to confine to the mold of society’s expectation of us. And yet Jesus offers a vision of human flourishing that stands at odds with the cultural value system of our day. We tend to forget that His teaching was as radical and controversial in His day as it is in ours.
Join us as we go through Matthew 5:17-37 and look at what Jesus says about some of today’s most controversial issues and what it means to follow Jesus.
The White Tent
Behind the connection cart you will find a hub for people who are new to Awakening. This is a space we encourage you to point new people as well as your own guests to. At The White Tent (previously known the white balloons) there will be treats & gifts, staff members & connection team members excited to welcome and get to know those who are new to our community!
40 Days of Prayer
For the next 40 days, we will reflect on scripture and pray. We will be reminded of Jesus’s radical love for the outsider. We will be challenged to activate our lives around his purposes. To be his voice of redemption. To be his hands and feet of restoration, asking God to use us in his transformation of the Bay.
Our hope is that this 40 day journey will change us from the inside out. To first start with the transformation and surrender of our own hearts, spilling out into our community as we act as agents of God’s mercies in a world desperate for beauty, love, and the abundant life that only Jesus can provide.

Del Mar High School Goodwill Drive
Clean out your closets and your home before the holidays and support the Del Mar IB Program! THIS Sunday October 15th from 9:00am-12:30pm, Del Mar’s PTSA & IB committee will be hosting a donation drive! This is the perfect time to drop off your donations to the Goodwill truck before or after service in the front parking lot.
The Goodwill truck can accept the following: Clothing, books, shoes, small household items (decor, bedding, kitchenwares & etc.), e-waste. We cannot accept large furniture or oversized items. All donations are tax deductible.
Leadership Advance is becoming Team Night!
We will be having Team Night (formerly known as Leadership Advance) on October 22nd from 4pm-6pm! This is an opportunity for anyone serves on a team or is interested in joining a ministry team to join us for a night of Soul Care led by Ryan and a time to connect with the team you serve on.
Dinner and Childcare for babies-5th grade will be provided!
Worship Auditions
Worship team auditions are here! If you are hoping to join the worship team or already serve on the team then this is for you. Fill out the application linked below and join us on October 22nd from 2-4pm in the Del Mar Cafeteria for auditions. This is open to adults as well as high schoolers.

If you are in Junior High, join us at Sky Zone (1901 Monterey Rd, San Jose, CA 95112) for a Halloween Party! Wear your costume and bring a water bottle Tuesday October 24th, 6:30-8pm!
Please register below and fill out a parent/guardian waiver for your child to attend! $20 registration (includes 90 minute jump time + socks).

Calling all High Schoolers
It’s time for our Annual High School Pumpkin Olympics! Come ready for a night of competition and lots pumpkin smashing. Join us on Sunday October 29th, 6-8pm at Central Christian Church!
Candypalooza is here!
Awakening Kids is celebrating CANDYPALOOZA on Sunday, October 29th! Kids are invited to wear their costumes to church and will go home with candy! In kids ministry, kids will hear a story from the Bible with the added fun of candy themed activities. After church, we will have bounce houses for kids and treats for the whole church!
INTRO
Awakening’s Connect Track is your pathway to community and a space designed for you to experience belonging and getting to know us more as a church. Our Intro class is an in-depth look at our story as a church, hearing your story, and where you fit in here. Intro walks you through our philosophy of ministry and gives you the opportunity to start serving with us through joining a ministry, depending on your interest and spiritual gifts!
Join us on November 5th from 1pm-3pm in the Teachers Lounge (to the right of the Library)! Lunch will be provided.
*Childcare will also be offered from babies-5th grade! Registration required for childcare.
Food Pantry | Every 1st & 3rd Thursday
As a church, we have a partnership with CityTeam and Del Mar High School to bring a mobile food pantry to our community in San Jose! This happens every 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month from 3pm-5pm. We encourage you to sign up today as we are always in need of more volunteers!

As the weather starts to cool down we would love to bring back hot coffee to Café and say goodbye to cold brew until next summer. In order to make this happen we need you! It takes more hands than we have to make this possible, and we know how much Awakening loves their hot coffee. Join the Café Team and help us bring back the hot coffee!

Calling all College Students
We want to hang out with you! Here are some ways you can get plugged into our the College Ministry:
1. Donuts & Drive | Need a ride to church? Meet us at 10:45am! SJSU students at the 7th street fountain and SCU students at the Bronco Statue.
2. College Kickback | Come hang out with us between services in the quad.
3. Join us every Sunday after church at 1pm to hang out and enjoy some Teaspoon in the Pruneyard!
