And what significance does the name of Jesus hold for us today?

Audience: Jewish audience.

Major Theme: Promise & Fulfillment.

Matthew writes to explain that Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah. God's promises and prophecies to the Jewish people have come to pass in Him. Jesus is the fulfillment and the continuation of the Hebrew Scriptures.
