How do you react when things go wrong?

When life is out of your control, what is your response?

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.

Luke 23:44-46

- You have far less CONTROL than you THINK you do.

Father: Abba, Sovereign and Good Heavenly Father, One who is responsible for the origin and care of all that exists.

The Illusion of Control:

- You are not meant to live under the BURDEN of OUTCOMES.

Hands: the power to direct or determine, understood by the directing power of a hand, perhaps with an emphasis on dominion.

“Taking things into your own hands doesn’t seize your destiny; it sabotages it.”

- Mark Sayers

- You’re STRONGEST when fully SURRENDERED to your Heavenly Father.

Commit: to put into the care or protection of someone, to entrust for safekeeping, give over, entrust, commend

Spirit: breath, soul, the immaterial you, inner being, that which animates or gives life to the body, the source and seat of insight, feeling, and will, inner life

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.

Isaiah 26:3-4

“The secret to peace, as great apprentices of Jesus have long known, is being abandoned to God.”

- Dallas Willard

“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”

The name you call someone reveals the type of relationship you have with that person.
