Look Up

One of the consistent motifs throughout the Bible is that of the wilderness, desert or valley.  And time and time again, we see that God is a God, who not only meets His people on the mountain tops, but he moves to meet us in the valley places of our lives.  Which is really good news as the entire world is wandering in the valley. Our new series GOD IS BIGGER brings into focus that God meets us in the valleys, He is bigger than every problem that we face and He is with us every step of the way.

Teaching Notes

What do you do when you find yourself caught in a pandemic?

“People need to be reminded more often than they need to be instructed.” Samuel Johnson

LOOK UP: See God for who He truly is

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord…

When you think about God what do you think about?

High & Exalted: The focal point, center of the universe, above all else, preeminent

Seated on a Throne: God is in control, He is the sovereign King of the Universe

Train of His Robe: God has all the power & authority

Holy, Holy, Holy: Set apart in brilliant perfection & righteousness, completely other.

Holiness is not something He does, holiness is who He is.

LOOK IN: Come to grips with who I really am.

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”

“Until we have seen ourselves as God sees us, we are not likely to be much disturbed over conditions around us as long as they do not get so far out of hand as to threaten our comfortable way of life.  We have learned to live with unholiness and have come to look upon it as the natural and expected thing.” AW. Tozer

Confession: to agree with God about your sin; to own up to your own junk.

Confession POSITIONS you to experiencing the GRACE of God in your life.

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

Altar: the place where substitute sacrifices were made for the sins of the people.

“God brings men into deep waters not to drown them, but to cleanse them.”

LOOK OUT: Respond to God’s call on your life.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

“I'm a little pencil in the hand of a writing God, who is sending a love letter to the world.” Mother Teresa
