Day 13

Scripture Focus:
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family[a] in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. – Ephesians 3:14-20
Prayer Focus:
Personal: Something special happens in our individual hearts when we come together as a community to pray and worship God together. Tomorrow we’ll be spending an extended amount of time in worship, so today would you take time today to prepare your heart for our time together to meet with God? Dwell on Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians (and all Christ followers). Ask: What does this tell me about God? About me? About others?

Communal: Pray that our church would experience God afresh tomorrow morning when we gather for worship and communion. Pray that we would be strengthened with power through his spirit. Pray that we would grasp together how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. Pray that we would live from that source of strength, rooted and established in Christ’s love.

What would happen if, for a period of time, you really focused on your relationship with God? What would happen if an entire community took time to really focus on their relationship with God? Every great movement of God first begins with a person who has been deeply moved by God. At Awakening we long to see a fresh and powerful movement of God take place in and through our church. That’s why we are taking 21 Days to reorient our lives to God and His purposes in our lives. 21 Days to pray and fast as a church. In Hebrew, fasting means to humble the soul. Fasting is the act of humbling one’s soul before God by abstaining from something for spiritual purposes. So, as a church, we are inviting you to fast with us from Media (TV, Movies, Social Media, Gaming, etc.) so that we might hear from God and cultivate a deeper hunger for Him. As we fast and pray together (from August 23rd – September 13th), I wonder what God might have in store for you, for us, and for our city?
