Savior

The idea of a savior strikes us as a bit odd. We are too sophisticated and enlightened to need a savior. Can’t we save ourselves? And yet the person drowning loses all sophistication, crying out in desperation for saving. Whether we like it or not, we all are looking for someone or something to save us– that relationship, self-actualization, our career or education, or escaping by numbing out.
