Week 1 | The Wounded Hand
The idea of a savior strikes us as a bit odd. We are too sophisticated and enlightened to need a savior. Can’t we save ourselves? And yet the person drowning loses all sophistication, crying out in desperation for saving. Whether we like it or not, we all are looking for someone or something to save us– that relationship, self-actualization, our career or education, or escaping by numbing out. Who will rescue us from the drudgery and bring life, hope, and purpose?
The cross stands as the centerpiece of human history. On the cross, Jesus preached his final sermon. The cross, now His pulpit. The Wounded Healer utters seven powerful sayings that reveal His saving grace for a hurting and broken world. Join us for the series our hearts are longing for, Savior: The Sermon from The Cross.
Lent Bible Reading Plan
Lent has historically been a season of renewed focus and fasting during the 40 days leading up to Easter Sunday. As we let old habits die and form new ones, we are a metaphor for Jesus’ death that ends in new life.
Scripture tells us that the one who meditates on God’s Word is “like a tree planted by streams of water”. This Lenten season we want to invite you to meditate daily on Scripture and experience the beautiful reality of a life firmly rooted next to a life-giving source. Join us in the Gospel of Matthew using a devotional by NT Wright called “Lent for Everyone”. We will go through this devotional using the Bible app and hope that you will join us!
An Introduction to Awakening
Awakening 101 is a space designed for those who are new to come and hear the history and heart of Awakening. This class is an in-depth look at our story as a church where you will hear from our Lead Pastor, Ryan Ingram, and other members of our staff and leadership over a meal. We will walk you through our philosophy of ministry and provide you with opportunities to lean into as a next step. Join us NEXT Sunday, March 3rd from 1pm-2:30pm in the Teachers Lounge (to the right of the Library)!
*Childcare will be offered for babies-5th grade! Registration by the Wednesday before 101 is required for childcare.
