Teaching Notes
Revelation 1:1-2 → Jesus is the point of Revelation.
Revelation 1:3 → What Jesus has to say is important.
Revelation 1:5b-6 → The Gospel is our “why.‘
I know your deeds, your hard work, and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.
Revelation 2:2-5a NIV
We talked already about:
- knowing Jesus
- seeing Jesus
- hearing what Jesus has to say
- being changed by Him
We’ve talked about our “why,” but here we find what Jesus really wants. It’s all about a relationship with HIM.
The whole of the Christian life flows from the love of God – first receiving it and then reciprocating. How, then, do we cultivate a love for God in our everyday lives?
