God Provides

Matthew 6:31-34 NIV

31 So do not worry, saying ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I am a perpetual worry wart! I have been my whole life. There was a time in 6th grade when I came down with shingles, a rash caused from stress, and I had it all over my back! My doctor told my mom that she needed to figure out a way to help me with my worrying because it could cause problems for me in the future. Still to this day, I have to remind myself to not worry about things that I cannot control and to regulate my emotions with the things that I can control. This verse has brought a sense of ease to my mind and heart these past few days. I am in a chapter of my life right now where it seems as if everything around me is changing and I cannot control any of it. I have been in a constant state of worry. But these verses remind us that God knows the needs of our souls, that we are to seek Him when we start to worry about worldly things. As humans, by nature, we run towards things that we need in order to feel safe, protected, and loved. God reminds us that He is the only one who can give us what we are seeking and what we need. He alone is our shield that protects us and He alone is the love that fills us!

I challenge you this week, as I have been challenged, to ask God to reveal to you the things that you are holding onto and stressing over. Give these things up to Him! He will hold them in His loving hands and take the weight off your shoulders. God has a plan for your life and if you seek Him, He will reveal His will to you and guide you in the direction that he has for your life. He will provide you with necessities and ravish you with love! When you feel like your whole world is changing and that you do not have control, remember to seek God and He will give you strength, protection, and peace! He makes everything work together for your good.
