Jesus’ Heart for the UNHOUSED

Dear Awakening Church family,

I am so grateful that we get to be a church that holistically represents God’s heart, seeking to advance both the proclamation and demonstration of The Gospel.

So a reminder that this Sunday we will launch our Love Local teaching and engagement series, a way to magnify God’s ongoing ministry through our church towards the unhoused, vulnerable children and those struggling with food insecurity.

We have an amazing lineup of guest speakers that will challenge us from scripture, unveiling Jesus’ posture and example towards the least of these. Along with these teachings, we will also have tangible next steps to take in being a part of God’s restorative work in our community!

Be sure to check out our Love Local page HERE, breaking down all the guest speakers, next steps, and further resources.

Please note that aside from our Sunday worship services, we will also have a special School of Faith on Monday, November 10th, from 6:30-8:30pm at the Awakening offices. The focus will be on our biblical and cultural understanding of immigration, with special guest presenter and leading expert, Matthew Soerens. Space is limited, so please register HERE in a timely manner.

I’m excited to see what God does in our church through this year’s Love Local series, reminding us that the closer we are to Jesus, the closer we will be to people in need.

See you Sunday as Lead Pastor of Quicksilver Church, Fred Mok, kicks things off revealing God’s heart for the unhoused.

Executive Pastor

We believe Del Mar High School isn’t just a place to meet on Sundays, but a community to serve and love.

Awakening has a yearly giving fund to help resource Del Mar High School students and their families experiencing significant needs throughout the school year.  Alongside school administration, the local outreach team provides resources with great intention and care that alleviate short-term crises. This year our goal is $35,000, which will continue to allow us to serve our Del Mar High School family, and to do so in the name of Jesus.

Last year’s impact from your giving…

  • Over 24 vulnerable families served
  • Financial assistance for families struggling with food insecurity and housing crisis
  • Day care assistance for teen mom seeking diploma
  • Replacement of stolen bike for student needing daily transportation to school
  • Housing assistance for refugee families
  • Job assistance for students to help pay for long-term family needs
  • Crisis care following apartment complex fire

Donations may be made by selecting the “Special Projects – Del Mar Fund,” with up to $35,000 dedicated to the Del Mar Giving Fund.  All donations outside of this period or in excess of $35,000 during this time period are allocated to the Unrestricted General Fund and will be used as approved by the Leadership Council.
